Leicester City are now interested in signing Leeds United-linked Swansea City striker Joel Piroe.

That is according to Daily Telegraph journalist John Percy, who reports the Foxes rebuild is now starting to build up ahead of steam with Piroe the latest of the club’s targets.

Leicester are already in talks over the triple signings of Harry Winks, Zack Steffen and Conor Coady as they look to start reinvesting the cash set to brought in from the sale of James Maddison to Tottenham.

Winks is a player that has also been linked with Leeds this summer but the Whites cannot start with their player recruitment drive until the EFL rubber stamp the San Francisco 49ers Enterprises’ takeover, and the appointment of a manager.

Piroe has been mentioned as a potential target for Leeds but Leicester appear to be the side currently in the driving seat for his signature.

The time in which it is taking for the EFL to approve 49ers’ takeover is becoming ever more frustrating, with it now almost three weeks since the announcement of a deal being agreed.

The delay will only provide promotion rivals such as Leicester the chance to leapfrog Leeds in the race for signings, as shown with both Piroe and Winks.

Leeds are in need of adding a new number nine this summer and Piroe is among a select few who could come in and guarantee a strong tally of goals.

Since joining from PSV in 2021, Piroe has netted a total of 41 Championship goals in two seasons for Swansea and at just 23, still has plenty of room to improve.

Leeds simply cannot afford for the EFL to continue delaying the takeover approval with so much work to be done on the squad.
