Leeds United are interested in signing Jayson Molumby this summer with the Whites keen to bolster their midfield in the transfer window.
That is according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (18/6; page 59), which notes that West Brom would consider offers for the 23-year-old at the right price.
There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Leeds right now. Obviously, the elephant in the room is the fact that we lack a manager. But it is also yet to become exactly clear who is staying and who is leaving from the playing squad.
Leeds eyeing Molumby
The club did announce the arrival of Nick Hammond as a football advisor for the current window in the last few days. And it seems that targets are now starting to be identified.
According to The Sun on Sunday (18/6; page 59), Leeds want Jayson Molumby as they look to add steel to their midfield.
The Republic of Ireland international is very experienced in the second tier, making 125 appearances at that level already. And it seems that the Baggies are not shutting the door on cashing in on him.
Molumby started his professional career at Brighton before leaving permanently for the Hawthorns in 2022. And he went on to score four goals and contribute four assists this past season.
Carlos Corberan has previously lauded his determination following a game in which the 23-year-old scored twice. Molumby had failed to complete training the previous day. And he needed an injection in his ankle to get through the clash.
Corberan – who is reportedly set to be interviewed for the Leeds job next week – said that he had a ‘huge’ personality. And he went on to win the supporters’ Player of the Year award for the club.
So if there is a deal to be done, this would arguably be a superb way for Leeds to kick off their squad rebuild.
