Football League World say Leeds have discussed moves for three goalkeepers other than Rotherham United’s Viktor Johansson – one of them is Newcastle United veteran Karl Darlow, along with Freddie Woodman and Marek Rodak.
Johansson, 24, emerged as an option between the sticks for Leeds this summer this week, with the Swedish ace impressing at the New York Stadium over the last couple of years. FLW say he is on the Leeds shortlist this summer.
But the report also shares how he is not the only one being considered at Elland Road, with Illan Meslier and Joel Robles set to leave. Meslier is likely to garner interest in his services, while Robles has not been offered a new deal.
So, Johansson is the club’s first-choice option. But the report also says that internally, Leeds have considered the possibility of signing Toon goalkeeper Darlow, who spent the second half of last season out on loan at Hull City.
Woodman, who left Newcastle permanently last summer to join Preston after a couple of years on loan at Swansea, is also an option having starred in the Championship. Rodak, 26, is another – after warming Fulham’s bench of late.

Rodak was key in Marco Silva’s promotion to the Premier League but upon a return to the top tier, Silva decided to sign Bernd Leno from Arsenal. It relegated Rodak to the bench, and he is about to enter the last year of his contract.
Four names on the list for Leeds, then. Johansson would be a superb addition, but Darlow has experience of both the Championship and the Premier League. Woodman is getting better with every season. Rodak’s stats are good.
An impressive 34 clean sheets in 111 Championship games, some of which came at Johansson’s Rotherham. So, all four would be decent additions – but ultimately, it will be down to whoever is appointed as manager, hopefully, soon.
