Crysencio Summerville has asked to leave Leeds United this summer amid growing interest in his services.
That is according to 1908.nl, who report Summerville does not see himself playing in the Championship next season as he targets a place in the Netherlands squad for the European Championships in 2024.
Summerville has already been linked with a number of clubs since Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League, with Everton the latest potential destination.
His former club Feyenoord are also said to be keen on securing his signature, while the Daily Telegraph claim the upcoming U21s EUROs will hand him an opportunity to put himself in the shop window.
It is said that a fee of £12 million could be enough to tempt Leeds into selling, despite a reported relegation release clause of £20 million.
Summerville asks to leave Leeds
With next summer’s European Championships clearly on his mind it is understandable why Summerville has his sights set on staying in a top league.
However, at his age, Summerville has plenty of time on his side and there will undoubtedly be opportunities in the future to represent his country at a major tournament.
The 21-year-old showed signs of what is he capable of in his breakthrough season last term, but it would be difficult to say he was consistent enough to earn a big move.
Aside from a run of four goals in successive matches before the World Cup break, Summerville struggled for regular output in the final third.
A year of regular football and scoring goals in the Championship just may well be perfect for his development, but it doesn’t appear as though he sees it that way.
