Leeds Live claim that Daniel Farke – along with the rest of Leeds United’s managerial targets – plan to use Georginio Rutter in a different role to the one he has been used in since he moved to Elland Road, not as a striker but out wide.
Rutter, 21, joined Leeds from Hoffenheim in January for a club-record fee, but as everyone knows – has struggled. He is yet to live up to his price tag. But it is hardly his fault, thrown in at the deep end and given drips and drabs.
Indeed, the Frenchman has started just one Premier League game, the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea under Javi Gracia. He now looks set to remain at Elland Road for the Championship campaign. But Farke seems to have a plan for Rutter.

When brought to Leeds, he was signed as a striker. He was used by Jesse Marsch and Gracia as a striker in his three starts for the club in all competitions – at Accrington Stanley and Fulham in the Cup, and at Stamford Bridge.
But Leeds Live report that Farke, along with other Leeds managerial targets, told Leeds they plan to use Rutter out wide – like he was used while at Hoffenheim. Against Manchester United next Wednesday, he could be used there.
Daniel Farke plans to use Georginio Rutter in different Leeds United role

It does seem ridiculous that Victor Orta chose to splash so much money on a player that while at Hoffenheim, was best cutting inside from the right, to be used as a striker. There are similarities with Joelinton at Newcastle United.
Both coming in from Hoffenheim, impressing out wide – bought by Premier League clubs to be used as a striker for big money, and failing. So, like Newcastle have done with Joelinton, changing his position makes much more sense.
