Leeds United defender Robin Koch has agreed personal terms with Eintracht Frankfurt.
That is according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who report Koch has reached an agreement with the Bundesliga side ahead of a potential loan move.
It is said that the only thing now preventing the transfer from being done is striking a deal on a loan fee, with Leeds needing to hold out for as much as they can given Koch is out of contract next summer.
Frankfurt appear to be beating off competition from a number of clubs from the Premier League and Bundesliga following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.
Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been mentioned as potential destinations in England, while Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keen.
Koch agrees personal terms with Frankfurt
Koch is one of several Leeds players who seemingly has a loan clause in his contract that has become active since the club’s return to the second tier.
Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca are all also reportedly close to leaving on a temporary deal, while Brenden Aaronson has been linked with Fulham.
Victor Orta is likely to have been the man inserting these clauses, which will ultimately be the lasting legacy he leaves behind at Leeds.
One positive of the Koch deal, though, is that Leeds are seemingly commanding a loan fee from Frankfurt, which makes the thought of losing him for nothing in 12 months time left frustrating.
Leeds return for pre-season on July 2 and Koch is among those scheduled for that day, but it remains to be seen whether the transfer will have already gone through.
