Daniel Farke was delighted his Leeds United side were able to keep a clean sheet in their win against Nottingham Forest.
Farke was speaking to members of the local press, including Leeds Live, following the 2-0 victory over their Premier League opponents at the Pirelli Stadium.
It was both Leeds’ first win of pre-season and under Farke following 2-0 defeats against Manchester United and Monaco in their opening matches.

While there were some positives to take from those two outings, the performance against Forest was undoubtedly their most impressive yet.
Leeds dominated the ball for large periods and didn’t really give Forest a sniff at the other end, with Illan Meslier called into action just once in the entire 90 minutes.
Farke shares what pleased him most from Leeds’ win vs Forest
With elements of his style looking more and more evident in each game that passes, it was actually the clean sheet that pleased Farke most from the win against Forest.
He said: “Good performance, good pre-season performance. So pre-season is all about getting ready for the real stuff but I have to give a compliment to the lads, it was really good. I was especially pleased to return to the dressing room with a clean sheet. It’s good win and against a Premier League side and I think also a well-deserved.
“There was one or two situations and we were pretty close to penalty and we missed a few big chances. So overall really, really solid and good performance.”

While it is nice to see a Leeds team looking confident in possession again, the willingness to defend their goal at the other end is also a refreshing sight.
Leeds’ defensive record over the last two seasons has been nothing short of appalling and clearly Farke recognises it as an area that needs to see improvement.
The foundations of a promotion winning squad is built from the back, which is something Farke knows better than anyone after his time at Norwich City.
