‘Really like him’: Gary Rowett now says he’s a big fan of Leeds man ahead of Sunday’s game

Millwall boss Gary Rowett is tipping Daniel Farke to do a ‘really good job’ at Leeds United ahead of the two sides’ meeting on Sunday.

Rowett was speaking to South London News where he provided an assessment on where Leeds are at following the close of the transfer window almost two weeks ago.

Farke has never got the better of Rowett in his five matches against him as a manager from his time at Norwich City, but is clearly a Championship expert having won the division twice.

The 46-year-old will be looking to make it a hattrick this season at Leeds as he hopes they can now really gather some momentum with a chaotic transfer window having come to an end.

Leeds brought in nine new players over the summer to compensate for the vast amount that went the other way, an amount that ended well into double figures.

Rowett backs Farke to shine at Leeds

Rowett is tipping Farke to a great job at Leeds now the ‘uncertainty’ of the window is behind them, but has warned him they will be in for a ‘tough’ game at the Den.

He said: “At that type of club there is a lot of speculation and a lot of talk about different players and where they might be going and playing. There is always that little bit of uncertainty. You need the window to close to settle down – it’s very, very important.

“They have got very good players and a good manager in Daniel (Farke), I really like him and think he’s done a really good job, certainly at Norwich. I think he’ll do a really good job there.

“It will take a little bit of time for it to settle down for them but every game from now on in is that game where you want to see that more settled performance if you’re Leeds manager. It will be a tough game – but a tough game for them coming to The Den, also.”

Leeds never have it easy when they make the trip to Millwall having not won there since November 2012, a run which includes five defeats in six matches.

Like Rowett mentioned, though, Leeds should really now start to kick on this season with the squad in a very settled position.

Hopefully that starts on Sunday, but it is crucial that Farke makes his Leeds squad aware of the type of atmosphere they will be walking into if they are to come away with a win.
