Monday night saw Leeds United produce arguably their best, and most-important result of the season as The Whites came from 1-0 down to beat second-placed Sheffield United 3-1.
Before the game, Leeds had been rocked by the loss of Ethan Ampadu to a knee injury. For Pascal Struijk however, it saw Leeds’ vice captain replace the skipper not only in the starting XI, but as Leeds captain.
Struijk was excellent throughout, one of LeedsUnited.News’ three winners. He enjoyed more touches than any other player, won seven of his nine duels and completed all three attempted tackles during the win.
A pass rate of 89% with 84 successful passes from an attempted 94 saw Struijk enjoy a brilliant game as Leeds secured the win, reaching 75 points with 36 still to play for. Struijk took to Instagram afterwards.

Goals from Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka and Joel Piroe got the job done for Leeds with Daniel Farke’s side seemingly unwavering in their pursuit of promotion. Ally McCoist is confident Leeds will get the job done.
Posting on Instagram, Struijk simply posted “Marching on Together” to Leeds fans. The Whites are now just five wins away from the magical 90-point mark which so often gets teams promoted to the top tier.
Raphinha joins Leeds United players in praising Pascal Struijk
Struijk is one of the remaining Leeds players to have been a teammate of now-Barcelona superstar Raphinha during the latter’s time at Elland Road. Illan Meslier, Junior Firpo and Wilfried Gnonto, too.
Currently captaining Barcelona, Raphinha – now considered among the best players in the world, took to Instagram to praise Struijk. Joe Rodon, Manor Solomon and Ao Tanaka also commented on Struijk’s post.
With Ampadu injured, Struijk’s importance has grown to crucial once again. Daniel Farke recently said that Struijk and Rodon are the Championship’s best two defenders, and they need to continue to show that.
