The win at Bramall Lane then, takes Leeds United five points clear of second-placed Sheffield United but perhaps more importantly, there are now seven points separating Leeds and the play-offs.
Leeds’ stretched their unbeaten run to a whopping 16 games in the Championship. The largest unbeaten run in the league for 33 years, Leeds last putting together such a run when they won the first division.
The Whites look good for promotion, especially having shown the fight and togetherness to come from losing positions to beat both Sunderland and Sheffield United within a week, scoring goals late on.
But there are still 12 Championship games left to play and Chris Wilder thinks there is still a chance that Sheffield United can finish above Leeds. Ally McCoist gave his verdict when discussing Leeds on Tuesday.

Ally McCoist thinks Leeds United will go on and win promotion
Early on Tuesday morning, footballing icon McCoist discussed Leeds alongside Troy Deeney. Both Deeney and McCoist agree Leeds need to replace Illan Meslier, before McCoist had his say on Leeds going up.
He told TalkSPORT (25/02, 6.05AM) that Leeds are best-positioned to go and win promotion to the top tier as things stand, underlining the relentlessness of Daniel Farke’s side over the last couple of matches.
“I can’t lie, I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Leeds. Just from games I’ve played against them. It’s still a bit early to say, you’d think they look like the strongest of the pushing sides,” McCoist said on Tuesday.
“You take into account the win over Sunderland, they’re relentless. They’re a machine that will keep going and going – five goals in the last 15 minutes from those two games, it tells you a lot about that team.”
Why Leeds are in a really good position in last 12 games
Playing Sheffield United for the second time has now seen Leeds play all three of their automatic rivals twice this season. They no longer have to face Sunderland, Sheffield United or Burnley this season.
Sheffield United and Burnley still have to do battle while Sunderland are 12 points behind Leeds. With 12 games to go, a swing seems unlikely. The Black Cats go to West Brom and Norwich, among others.
Position of Leeds’ 12 remaining opponents:

| March 12 | Millwall | Elland Road | 11th |
| March 15 | QPR | Loftus Road | 14th |

Nine of the 12 teams Leeds are yet to play currently sit in the bottom half of the Championship table. So, not only have Leeds picked up wins against Sheffield United and Sunderland, the run-in looks easier.
