Preston star Brad Potts makes very ‘honest’ assessment of Leeds United after late draw

Leeds United’s push for automatic promotion will become a whole lot more successful if the Whites can be more profitable away from home, something they failed to do on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites are struggling to match their home form away from Elland Road this season, winning just three of their 10 matches. Josuha Guilavogui has already told Leeds they need to improve on the road.

The latest example of that came at Deepdale against Paul Heckingbottom’s Preston. Milutin Osmajic is already renowned among Leeds fans after the striker got Illan Meslier sent off last term in a 2-1 loss.

Osmajic took advantage of some slack defending from the normally reliable Joe Rodon, and Jayden Bogle, to score. Leeds did eventually equalise on 93 minutes, but it was another afternoon of frustration.

Preston’s Brad Potts gives his verdict on Leeds after Saturday

Potts earned the Sky Sports Man of the Match award for his performance on Saturday and rightly so. The full-back was excellent, making a number of crucial interventions and blocks to deny Leeds throughout.

Speaking after the game, Potts gave his thoughts to Preston’s website – saying he felt Preston were unlucky not to win. The defender also shared what he thought about Leeds after playing against them.

“We’re feeling a bit deflated to be honest with you. We did everything we possibly could to win the game. We worked so hard for each other. Football can be so cruel at times and we’re frustrated in there for sure.

“Leeds are a good team. We knew they were going to have the ball and put pressure on us, especially towards the end, it was about about withstanding pressure. It’s so hard on us that they scored so late.”

Predicting Leeds United’s next five games over Christmas and NY

Leeds are in action five times between next Saturday and then January 4. They host Oxford United next Saturday before Stoke City away on Boxing Day, and then a second meeting of the month against Derby.

Incredibly, Leeds haven’t won outside of Yorkshire or Wales this season – winning only three times away from home against Swansea, Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday. Below, we predict Leeds’ next five games.

A possible 13 points out of 15, then. Stoke away last season was a game that saw Patrick Bamford miss a penalty in Staffordshire, before Stoke went down the other end and scored from a corner late on.

Such a record would be a solid return and perhaps, that is wishful thinking given the nature of England’s second tier but if games are sorted out on paper then you would have to say, this is a good run for Leeds.
