Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has reported on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence has agreed to join Leeds United on loan from Spurs in order to get more minutes, “deal that suits all parties”.
Spence, 23, joined Spurs last summer after shining while on loan at Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest. He helped Forest gain promotion that season, having a hand in eight goals in his 46 games for Cooper.
It saw him move to Spurs. But he managed just six outings, all off the bench, in his first half-season spell at the club. A loan to Rennes in the second half did not go much better, only managing 10 games in all.
Now back at Tottenham, the England U21 man has decided to go back to the Championship with Leeds set to land the defender. According to Phil Hay, Spence’s move is set to happen in the next 48 hours.
Hay did not report Spence’s stance – but did say he was yet to agree a loan or do a medical. However, Jacobs says that Spence has chosen to move to Leeds and agreed to the loan, to get more minutes.

It will be interesting to see where Spence fits in. Does he come in above Cody Drameh and Luke Ayling on the right, or is he the man that Leeds have identified to solve the gaping hole on the left of defence?
Spence can do a job there, and can also play as a winger. But right-back is his best role. Putting that aside, Leeds are getting themselves a top-quality player with Championship promotion experience.
