The international break came at arguably the perfect time for Leeds United.
After a chaotic, never-ending summer, everyone at Elland Road can finally take stock ahead of returning next weekend ready to kick-start their season.
Daniel Farke warned that there would be a bumpy start to the season, and with just six points on the board so far, he wasn’t wrong.
However, with the summer window now closed and clarity surrounding the squad, Farke will now have a crucial period on the training ground ahead of the return to action a week on Sunday.
Between their trip to Millwall and the next international break, Leeds have another six fixtures and so with that in mind, here are our predictions.
September 17: Millwall (A)
A ground Leeds have not won at since November 2012 but it really is time to end that curse. Leeds are more than good enough to go there and win with this squad and as long as they do not relent under the atmosphere like in years gone by, the three points should return to West Yorkshire.
Prediction: Millwall 1-3 Leeds United
September 20: Hull City (A)
This will be an extremely tough match with Hull having strengthened well in the summer, while also enjoying a positive start to the season. Liam Rosenior’s side became the first side to take points off Leicester City last weekend showing they have what it takes to pull off a result against a top side.
Prediction: Hull City 1-1 Leeds United
September 23: Watford (H)
Since start the season like a house on fire with a 4-0 demolition of Queens Park Rangers, Watford have not won since. Leeds have drawn all three of their matches at Elland Road so far under Farke but this time they will come away with a win.
Prediction: Leeds United 1-0 Watford
September 30: Southampton (A)
Like Leeds, the international break came at the ideal time for Southampton after a shambolic 5-0 loss at Sunderland. Russell Martin, though, now has clarity regarding the future of several players in his squad and with players returning from injury, they will only get stronger, you would think.
Prediction: Southampton 3-2 Leeds United
October 4: QPR (H)
QPR have somewhat recovered from that dreadful start to the season at Watford but are still likely to be among those down at the bottom. Gareth Ainsworth’s side will sit deep and look to frustrate Leeds, but Farke’s men should have enough with an early goal key to the win.
Prediction: Leeds United 2-0 QPR
October 7: Bristol City (H)
Bristol City have started fairly well this season having lost key man Alex Scott in the summer but this is another winnable home game for the Whites. The Robins have been strong defensively under Nigel Pearson but this should be another three points as Leeds begin to build some momentum.
Prediction: Leeds United 2-1 Bristol City
