Jesse Marsch told his press conference that five key Leeds players could be missing from Saturday’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool – so, here is our predicted line-up if Marsch is without those players, including three changes.
Leeds are massive underdogs going into Saturday evening’s match, which is at the unusual time of 7.45PM. Marsch says Leeds could be without Joe Gelhardt, Rodrigo, Liam Cooper, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra come Saturday.
He says that the quintet will be analysed and checked in the next 48 hours. Three of the five started in the 3-2 loss to Fulham, while Gelhardt came off the bench to give an assist for Crysencio Summerville. Adams would have started if fit.
Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas remain long-term absentees at Elland Road, while Leo Hjelde is also questionable. Liverpool, meanwhile, have numerous injuries, but come into the match off the back of a 3-0 away win over Ajax.
Leeds predicted line-up to face Liverpool: Three changes, if five missing
It all depends on the next 48 hours. Sam Greenwood was one of our better players against Fulham and he will surely continue if Adams is sidelined. Summerville scored against Fulham and he would probably come in for Sinisterra.
At the back, if captain Cooper is missing, Spain international Diego Llorente is an easy switch. Rodrigo was poor despite his goal against Fulham and Bamford would surely start once again. So, it is not the end of the world.
Of course, Marsch would rather have Cooper, Sinisterra and Adams at his disposal in a match that could be the end of his Leeds tenure. But if five are missing, the likelihood is that there will be three changes come the trip to Anfield.
Llorente replaces Cooper, Summerville replaces Sinisterra for his second-ever Premier League start and Bamford comes in for Rodrigo. Ayling continues at right-back over Rasmus Kristensen. This is of course, if the five doubts are ruled out.
