Player surpasses 70 goals and assists since Leeds United exit on Tuesday night, in just 108 games

Leeds United’s squad looks incredibly different already to the one that got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2022-23 season, with only a couple remaining at the club.

The difference between the Premier League squad Marcelo Bielsa built from mid-table Championship obscurity to ninth in the top tier, to the squad that has been moulded together by Daniel Farke, is stark.

Just Illan Meslier, Pascal Struijk, Junior Firpo, Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford remain in the Leeds first team since relegation, with many leaving the club after Sam Allardyce failed to keep Leeds up.

There was some star quality in the Leeds side that shone under Bielsa. The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Luke Ayling, Gjanni Alioski, Mateusz Klich and plenty more but the best, quite easily, was winger Raphinha.

Raphinha reaches 70 goals and assists with Barcelona already

After two seasons at Elland Road and having saved Leeds from relegation on the final day with a magical display at Brentford, Raphinha left for Barca. He finished with stats of 29 goals and assists in 67 games.

Raphinha did well without shining in his first two seasons, but this time around the Brazilian has come alive at The Nou Camp. On Tuesday night, Raphinha netted two goals in a 5-1 away win at Mallorca.

That has taken him to 26 goals and assists for the 2024-25 season – 16 goals, 10 assists. Already, he has surpassed his first two seasons in a Barcelona shirt in terms of numbers, clocking up a total of 71.

Raphinha form at Barcelona compared to his numbers at Leeds

Harry Gray recently said Raphinha is the best in the world, and on current form it is hard to find many players in Europe that are producing similar to Raphinha’s numbers at one of the world’s biggest clubs.

His 71 goals and assist – 36 goals, 35 assists – have come in just 108 games. No wonder, new West Ham attacker Crysencio Summerville said that Raphinha is the best player he has played with this week.

The win takes Barcelona four points clear at the top of La Liga as Hansi Flick looks to take the La Liga trophy back from Real Madrid. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s stuttering Galacticos have two games in hand.
