Burnley remain interested in signing Leeds United defender Cody Drameh this summer.
That is according to the Athletic, who report the Clarets are keen to add another right back to their squad in the coming weeks and Drameh features on a shortlist of two that also includes Anderlecht’s Noah Sadiki.
Burnley had a bid turned down for Drameh last month by Leeds with Sacha Tavolieri reporting discussions were ongoing in order to find an agreement.
However, at this point, it appears as though Burnley’s priority is currently Sadiki, with an official bid having been submitted to Anderlecht last Wednesday, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano also claims Burnley are already at an advanced stage over personal terms with Sadiki’s agent, indicating it is a deal that is much further along than Drameh.
Burnley remain keen on Drameh
It is clear Burnley are looking to add a young right back to their ranks this summer, but Drameh must consider that he is likely going to be playing second fiddle again if he was to make the move to Turf Moor.
Connor Roberts is currently very much first choice in that position and will take some dislodging after appearing in 43 of their 46 Championship matches last season, 39 of which were starts.
The pathway to first team football is now much clearer at Leeds with Rasmus Kristensen on the verge of sealing a season-long-loan switch to Roma.
Luke Ayling is now Drameh’s only real competition at right back, and while many would agree his still leadership will be important next season, it is also time for him to take a back seat in terms of game time.
Leeds should instead be looking to offer him a new deal with the promise of regular football, which according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he would be open to doing.
