Leeds United have posted a picture on Twitter of defender Max Wober in the club’s new home shirt for the 2023-24 season, perhaps suggesting that the Austrian will now be remaining at Elland Road – for the upcoming campaign.

Given Wober was arguably one of our better players during the second half of the season following his arrival in the January window – it was likely that he might depart. Of all the interest in our players, little has been in £11m Wober.

Then, last week, Leeds Live reported that Wober had informed Leeds he intended to remain at Elland Road. It looks as if then, Wober will be looking to help Leeds return to the Premier League, come May 2024. A huge boost for us.

On Tuesday morning, Leeds released images of their new kit – in the form of a video that starred Darko Gyabi and also included Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph. Later on on Tuesday, Leeds posted a picture of Wober on Twitter.

Leeds post Wober picture in club’s new home shirt, amid decision reports

The new shirt is gorgeous, one of our best in recent years – but almost as good as the 23-24 jersey, is Wober opting to stay put at Leeds. His decision is understandable, in that he moved his family only six months prior this summer.

But, Wober is a player that has played in the Champions League. Left-footed centre-backs are sought after, but it seems Wober will remain – and Liam Cooper may have to play second fiddle. Keeping him aids our promotion hunt.

Wober returned to pre-season training on Monday and he is expected to be on the plane to Oslo to face Manchester United, on Wednesday afternoon. Wober will be a key part of this Leeds side next season, and in a beautiful new kit.
