Phil Hay has written in his latest piece for The Athletic that “nobody has tested” Leeds United over a move for Luis Sinisterra, as of yet. The winger was seen as one that would end up leaving – but he has remained at Elland Road.
Sinisterra, 24, joined Leeds last summer, largely as a replacement for Raphinha. It comes after the Colombian had a wonderful year under Arne Slot at Feyenoord – 23 goals, 14 assists and a run to the Europa Conference League final.
But after a move to Leeds, injuries limited him to just 22 games during 22-23. Seven goals in that time, though. His season summed up after heading Leeds ahead against Leicester, only to come off minutes later with his final injury.
Sinisterra has been linked with clubs. Colombian outlet El Deportivo said Bayer Leverkusen – who wanted Sinisterra prior to his move to Leeds – were keen on a loan. A report from Tuttomercatoweb said Milan had made an enquiry.
However, we are now within two weeks of the start of the season and he remains. He has started both pre-season games, losses to Manchester United and Monaco. Hay says: “Nobody has tested Leeds over Luis Sinisterra yet.”

Keeping Sinisterra would see Leeds gain a massive advantage going into the 2023-24 season. Not many would have expected the Colombian to stick around. It might not actually be something he wants. But no clubs are coming in.
Officially, with a bid or an enquiry, as of yet. Sinisterra’s numerous injuries last season are likely to have played their part. We are only halfway-ish into this summer’s transfer window, so there is still time to go. Sinisterra could leave.
But as things stand, it looks as if Sinisterra will remain – and at least, be in the side that faces Cardiff on August 6. It might not be what he wants, but last season’s injuries could now play in our favour – and Sinisterrs stays at Leeds.
