Phil Hay has told The Square Ball podcast that Daniel Farke will want to sign Joe Rodon permanently but feels it is unlikely it happens in January – sharing details of talks with Tottenham in the summer.
Rodon, 26, has been superb for Leeds since joining the club on loan from Tottenham. Playing 12 times for the club, he has formed a brilliant partnership in the middle of the defence with lefty Pascal Struijk.
Of course, his form has led to hopes among Leeds fans that a deal can be done to land Rodon beyond his loan spell. A permanent deal, come January or next summer. Hay has responded to those murmurs.
The Athletic reporter says he feels a move for Rodon in January is unlikely, but a deal that Farke will want to do – perhaps, in the summer. He shared details of talks over a deal with Spurs, initially in the summer.
“I don’t know about January but I think at some point in the future, given the way he’s played – he looks like a really steady addition. When Leeds got in touch with Tottenham, they were told he cost £15m.
“Leeds said they couldn’t. Spurs got back in touch, loan. Classic Daniel Levy bartering. If you can make money, then do. If you can’t, think again. In Daniel Farke’s mind – he would be a really good signing.”

There is no doubt that Leeds have got to look at signing the Wales star Rodon beyond the loan deal. He seems pretty much out of the picture at Tottenham – with Spurs likely to sign centre-backs in January.
That, instead of recalling Rodon and giving him another go in a Spurs shirt. It is likely that given Levy’s stubbornness, they’ll continue to request a fee of £15m for Rodon. If promoted, it’s a deal we have to do.
