Leeds United are battling to avoid relegation back to the Championship this season, as they plan to establish themselves as a Premier League club beyond the 2025-26 campaign.

A solid win at Wolves on Saturday sees Leeds now boast seven points from five games and sit in 12th position in the Premier League. Daniel Farke is defying his critics and right now, is ahead of the curve.

The aim is 17th or above, and to average a point a game. The win at Wolves comes ahead of two home games against Bournemouth and Tottenham, where Leeds will hope to use their Elland Road advantage.

Leeds, then, are well-positioned. It has seen Ally McCoist change his mind on Leeds, and Jamie O’Hara pull a complete u-turn on Farke’s position as manager. But where do Leeds want to be in three years?

Paraag Marathe’s three-year plan for Leeds United detailed

According to the iPaper, The 49ers and chairman Paraag Marathe have a three-year plan for Leeds. The first stage is surviving in the Premier League and allowing Leeds to invest bigger next summer.

Then, it is about establishing the club in years to come as a Premier League side. Something Leeds tried to do under Andrea Radrizzani, but a number of bad investments ruined their chances of doing so.

Marathe and Leeds hope the club can reach the tier below the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle come the summer of 2028. Level with the likes of Brighton, Crystal Palace, Fulham, and other mid-table sides.

Where would Leeds finish in last season’s PL, at this rate?

To establish themselves, allow The 49ers to spend more and invest, Leeds will need to survive the threat of relegation. Wolves’ early form will give Leeds hope there is at least one side that is worse than them.

Burnley, Brentford, West Ham, Aston Villa, Sunderland and even Nottingham Forest also find themselves as potential relegation rivals to Leeds. But with seven points from five games, Leeds are doing well.

An average of 1.4 points a game, stretched over the course of the entire season, would see Leeds finish level with Crystal Palace in 12th last season. Avoid defeat in the next two and Leeds are very well-placed.
