Paraag Marathe has told Leeds United supporters to expect a ‘significant’ amount of transfer activity this summer.
Marathe made the claim in an open letter to Leeds fans that he penned in the Yorkshire Evening Post, as he continues to be as transparent as possible after becoming the club’s new chairman.
He is now really able to get to work on his ambitions at Elland Road after San Francisco 49ers Enterprises were finally given EFL approval for their takeover on Monday night.
With Andrea Radrizzani now having relinquished full control, Marathe made the move from vice-chair, to chair, with Rudy Cline-Thomas taking up his previous role.
Marathe has already been extremely active in the work that has gone on so far at Leeds, having played a key role in the process of hiring Daniel Farke as the club’s new manager.
Marathe tells Leeds fans what to expect this summer
Having already lost six members of last season’s first team, Leeds will now be switching their focus to incomings with Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu expected to be the first through the door.
Marathe has told Leeds supporters to expect ‘significant’ movement this summer both in and out, but is optimistic the squad will be strong enough for a promotion push.
“We anticipate significant transfer activity and turnover within the squad this summer, which I’m sure you are following closely. While it will be tough to see players go, we are confident we have the resources and vision to bring in talent whom you all will feel proud to support going forward.”
It is refreshing to see an owner come out and speak with such openness to supporters, without the delusion Radrizzani often brought when he spoke publicly.
It is also promising that he has acknowledged how much work needs doing on the squad and hopefully Ampadu is just the first of many this summer.
