Paraag Marathe gives immediate reaction as Leeds appoint Daniel Farke as manager

Leeds United have finally appointed Daniel Farke as the club’s new manager on a four-year deal and chairman Paraag Marathe has given his immediate response – on the club’s website. He says he is delighted to hire Farke.

German gaffer Farke, 46, has been appointed as the club’s first permanent manager since the sacking of Jesse Marsch back in February. Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce has since been in the Leeds hotseat, on temporary roles.

The German has been chosen largely due to his CV and work in the Championship. Spending four years at Norwich, he guided them to promotion on two occasions – both, automatically. Leeds are hoping he makes it a third time.

The belief was that Leeds were waiting for the EFL to ratify a takeover by The 49ers from Andrea Radrizzani. But, with the players returning to the grass on Wednesday at Thorp Arch – the club have made a move, appointing Farke.

Marathe, who will become the club’s chairman when the EFL does eventually ratify the takeover, gave his response to the hiring of Farke. The German has been out of work for a short space of time, after leaving Monchengladbach.

“After a thorough recruitment process, we are excited to confirm Daniel’s appointment as our first team manager. His record in the Championship is clear,” Marathe said on the club’s official website, after appointing boss Farke.

“And, I am impressed by his leadership and plan to guide us back to the Premier League. We welcome Daniel and his staff to the club and look forward to a strong season,” he continued, after handing Farke a four-year deal as boss.

A smart, solid option. Leeds have brought in a manager that has proven not one, but twice, that he can do it in the Championship. Scott Parker has the same credentials, but given the cash and squads on offer – perhaps, easier.

Farke did it with a Norwich side that lacked the budget and squad of Farke’s Norwich sides, on both occasions. He will not be given a month to get the Leeds side in order before we open our Championship campaign on August 6.
