Fulham have emerged this week as a possible route back into the Premier League for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto – but a move to The Cottagers is surely over, with Marco Silva closing in on the signing of Adama Traore.

Gnonto, 19, is desperate to leave Leeds. He made himself unavailable for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup clash against Shrewsbury Town. Plenty of chat has been had about the Italy man’s future at Elland Road this summer.

Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Fulham, West Ham and Everton are all interested, though the latter are certainly showing the most interest. Jones has also said he has been offered to Villa, who are considering a move.

But a few hours after those reports emerged, The Athletic say that Fulham are set to complete the signing of free agent – and long-term Leeds target – Traore. A move that will see him reunite with striker Raul Jimenez at Fulham.

Fulham emerged as route for Gnonto but they are closing in on Traore

It is a brilliant move for Traore. A player that has never really got going at Wolves – despite a loan spell at Barcelona. He has been linked with Spurs for years but now a free agent, he had been struggling to find himself a new club.

Now, he is off to Fulham – on the day the Premier League campaign returns. For Gnonto, he is keen to go and a move to Fulham would have been brilliant for him. Silva has lost numerous wingers, including Leeds star Dan James.

Willian is set for Saudi Arabia, while Manor Solomon has moved to Tottenham. So, Fulham needed a winger and Gnonto might have seen it as a move he would have jumped at. But, it looks like they are going for Traore instead.
