Leeds United’s pre-season tour will begin in Germany this year, following a trip to Daniel Farke’s homeland last summer.

Leeds United will face the likes of Man United, Villarreal and AC Milan at various other stages, as well as local side Guiseley AFC.

Leeds’ pre-season plans are taking shape and it’s sure to be an exciting occasion when Leeds play Milan, according to Gary Kelly.

The fixture with the most excitement is that clash, as both teams have had numerous iconic players play for them and Gary Kelly’s combined Leeds and Milan XI says as much.

Roque Junior is the only player to feature for both Leeds and Milan in his career. However, unfortunately, Leeds will face a weakened Milan side when they travel.

Leeds fans react angrily to pre-season plans in Germany

Leeds, for the second year in a row, have been told no fans are allowed to watch their pre-season friendlies in Germany.

Last year, Leeds were told the struggles of the country hosting the 2024 European Championships meant police could not support the games, but now 12 months on, the outcome is the same.

It’s fair to say that Leeds supporters haven’t taken the news well, with the club renowned for having a vocal and loyal fanbase who follow the club around everywhere.

Another reply on Twitter/X to the statement read: “Stop going to Germany if Fans aren’t allowed to come.”

A further reply said: “Unbelievable this has happened again!”

Another angry responder said: “This is amateur from the club they should have known this could happen again from last season, there is a multitude of country’s we could have chosen for camp & to play games that would welcome the team & fans yet we have chosen the same path again very poor management.”

Leeds can’t even broadcast the games live on LUTV, either. It’s turned into somewhat of a nightmare situation for the club, having had games scheduled in for weeks.

Leeds United’s statement regarding their Germany pre-season tour

The official statement from Leeds reads: “Leeds United will travel to Germany in pre-season as part of preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 Premier League season, after the technical success of the camp last year helped us win the Sky Bet Championship title.

“Opponents and venues for fixtures were arranged earlier this year, and written assurances secured from both the German FA and our tour operator as well, given last summer we were asked at short notice by the police and local authorities not to bring supporters due to a resource strain following UEFA Euro 2024.

“Frustratingly, despite having matches agreed for a number of months, we have in the last week been informed that the police and local authorities will once again not grant a permit for us to play matches in front of spectators, will prohibit us from providing live updates and video streams, and have requested we discourage supporter travel.

“This comes despite multiple attempts to find a solution including offering various assurances, pursuing alternative scenarios that would allow for fan attendance, and even evaluating moving camp to a different location on short notice. Unfortunately, those efforts were fruitless due to the last second nature of our change in circumstances.

“This result is deeply frustrating to all of us, just as it is sure to frustrate and anger you, our loyal supporters, to whom we apologise unreservedly for this outcome.

“We remain excited about our summer friendlies against Manchester United, Villarreal CF, and AC Milan, with tickets available for all three matches, and the opportunity for supporters to travel with the team to Sweden and Ireland.”
