Enzo Maresca has confirmed Leicester City will be without Wilfred Ndidi and Yunus Akgun against Leeds United.
Maresca was speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s huge meeting at the King Power Stadium, where he provided an update on a number of players.
Ndidi has been out of action for the last two matches after suffering from muscle tightness before last week’s win over Sunderland, though it has escalated into a problem that will keep him out until the international break.
Akgun, meanwhile, has also been absent in the last two matches after coming off injured in Leicester’s 3-1 win over Swansea City on October 21.
It had looked as though the Turkey international would be fit for the clash with Leeds tomorrow night, but that will no longer be the case.
Maresca confirms Akgun and Ndidi out vs Leeds
As per Leicestershire Live, Akgun had made his return to training earlier this week but has suffered a reaction, meaning he joins Ndidi, Will Alves and Callum Doyle on the sidelines.
He said: “Unfortunately he [Yunus] felt something. So he’s not available. Wilf will be out until the international break. It’s a muscle problem. It’s a small issue. We don’t want to take any risks. Tom is back with us. Kasey is back. It’s good news. But at the same time, there is bad news.”
Leicester have arguably the best squad depth in the league across all areas of the pitch and so it is likely whoever fills in for these players, will be just as good anyway.
It is for that reason Leicester already sit 14 points clear of Leeds at the top of the table, having picked up 39 points from a possible 42 available, in what has been a record breaking start to the season.
With that in mind, Leeds will know they cannot afford to fall even further behind their Friday opponents even at this extremely early stage of the season.
