Leeds United certainly ended the summer transfer window in disappointing fashion. But Nedum Onuoha thinks Daniel Farke has made one very underrated signing.
In the end, Leeds United managed to sign 10 new players during the summer transfer window. After a subdued start to proceedings, Daniel Farke’s side really started to get the new faces through the doors, but the pace quickly dropped off.
After a flurry of signings in July, August seemed to slow down a bit. Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Justin all arrived at the club in August, leaving Farke with work to do on deadline day.
But Leeds United failed to sign any new players on deadline day and now Farke has to get this Leeds side into the January transfer window with their campaign still intact.

Nedum Onuoha rates Sean Longstaff transfer to Leeds United
Whilst the summer ended on a negative note, there have still been some good signings at Elland Road this summer. One name who impressed in Leeds United’s draw against Newcastle United last time out was Sean Longstaff. The former Magpies favourite put in a Man of the Match performance against his old team, in what was his first league start for the Whites.
Jamie Carragher hailed Longstaff’s performance against Newcastle and speaking on James Lawrence Allcott’s YouTube channel, pundit and former player Nedum Onuoha thinks Longstaff to Leeds is a ‘sneaky’ bit of business from Leeds United.
Onuoha said: “I think that’s sneaky good signing, somebody we’ve seen do well in the Premier League before and to get him for £12million.”

Nedum Onuoha and Jeff Stelling in agreement on Leeds United
Deadline day seems to have cast a real shadow over Leeds’ entire summer business. Speaking recently, Jeff Stelling gave his verdict on Leeds United’s summer transfer window and said that he simply can’t get excited over any of the club’s signings.
Any except from Longstaff, that is. Stelling, like Onuoha, has hailed Leeds’ signing of Longstaff, saying: “I can’t get excited over any of their signings. Leeds United. I just don’t know who is going to score the goals for them. I can’t get excited over James Justin, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and so on.
“For me, they needed strikers they could rely on to get goals. Calvert-Lewin, you can’t rely on. Sean Longstaff will do a good job in the middle of the park. I’m pretty sure of that. But I worry for Leeds.”
For Farke, it seems unfair to suggest that nobody signed this summer, bar Longstaff, will do a job for the club this season. And after deadline day it’s easy to forget that Leeds United have kept two clean sheets in the opening three and have already put four points on the board, sitting in 12th place of the Premier League table.
The next game away at Fulham on September 13th will be a real indicator of just how good their summer business has been and how well the Whites might do in the league this season.
