Nadiem Amiri is the subject of a bid from Leeds United with reports saying a deal is ‘well advanced’ – but the Whites will have a job to convince him as Kicker claim he is wary about joining a Championship side.
Amiri, 26, has fallen down the pecking order at Leverkusen. He started just 13 games in all competitions last season for the German side, scoring four in his 36 outings. His £49k-a-week deal ends next June.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday night that Amiri is the subject of a bid from Leeds. Kicker then followed that up by saying we would only have to pay a fee of £5.1m for Amiri. A deal is ‘well advanced’.
A bargain, then. But there is one large obstacle that Leeds must tackle before a deal is done and that is the player himself. It is all well and good making an offer for him, and meeting Leverkusen’s asking price.
The report from Kicker states that while Amiri is yet to make a decision on the offer from Leeds – he is wary, and unconvinced, of a move to the Championship. It needs some persuasion from Daniel Farke.

Amiri wold be a wonderful signing. A player that has attracted Premier League interest in the past. But one that will take some tempting. Described as “enthusiastic, but cheeky” by Verona star Suat Serdar.
What Leeds can offer Amiri is a possible route into the Premier League and the chance to kickstart his career – which is beginning to fall by the wayside. He needs games, and Leeds will love him if he joins.
