German magazine Kicker claim that Bayer Leverkusen want a bargain £5.1m fee for attacking midfielder Nadiem Amiri in the final week of the window – and Leeds United are ‘well advanced’ in a move for him.
Amiri, 26, is expected to leave Leverkusen in the coming days – having entered the final 12 months of his contract, which is worth £49,000 a week. Last term, he fell down the pecking order – starting 13 of 36.
This season, it looks as if it is going to be much of the same. He was a very late sub against Leipzig on the opening day of the season. The five-time Germany star is set for pastures new in the coming week.
Fabrizio Romano says Leeds have made an offer to sign Amiri – in an exclusive he posted on Twitter. Following that report, Kicker delivered one of their own. They detailed how much Leeds need to pay.
The report claims that Leverkusen want just £5.1m for Amiri. The report also states that a deal is now ‘well advanced’, with Leeds more than willing to meet Leverkusen’s price tag. Now, Amiri must decide.

What a signing this is. Leeds have lacked a no.10 that can create behind the striker and while Amiri is not famed for his work rate, he is certainly a player that can cause damage in the final third – at the top level.
In the Championship, one would expect that he would shine. For a bargain fee of just £5.1m, Leeds are getting themselves a serious talent. Daniel Farke must make sure he does not get too big for his boots.
As no.10’s often do, Amiri is a confident player – bags of flair, trickery, vision, goals, assists. But it does see him avoid the off-the-ball work, and Farke must rid that if he is to thrive. Possible gem of a signing.
