Sam Byram has returned to Leeds as though he never left. The versatile defender is flying, making the left-back spot his own. On Wednesday night, the underrated ace produced another wonderful display.
Byram, 30, joined Leeds after proving his fitness. It comes after just 98 senior matches in seven and a half years, since leaving Leeds. Injury hampered Byram during spells at West Ham, Norwich and Forest.
Now back at Leeds, Byram has rejuvenated his career. Already, he has played 10 times this season – starting seven times. One of those came last night in a 1-0 victory over struggling QPR at Elland Road.
A report from Phil Hay claims that Farke is said to see Byram as the best left-back in the Championship. Well, judging by the stats on Wednesday night, Byram lived up to that hype. A 7.71 WhoScored rating.

Our second best behind goalscorer Crysencio Summerville, on the night. But Byram lead the way in other areas. Most tackles, with a huge five. Most dribbles with three, more than striker Georginio Rutter.
Byram stats proof that Farke view on Leeds ace is right
He enjoyed the most touches out of all the Leeds players, with 98 – six more than Ethan Ampadu. Two aerials won, and three successful crosses. Byram was exceptional, proving the initial doubters wrong.
As time goes on, the need for a left-back is reducing. Especially, with Junior Firpo working hard to get back to full fitness and Stuart Dallas also an option down the line. But Byram has been wonderful.
It is another example of Farke making the right moves in the transfer window, forming a reunion with Byram. If Leeds are to gain promotion, keeping Byram fit is now becoming a priority at Elland Road.
