Daniel Farke has hinted there will be positive news at Leeds United soon by joking they are saving ‘the best until last’.
Farke was speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game with West Bromwich Albion on Friday, where he was once again asked about the club’s transfer situation.
The Whites have endured yet another quiet week in terms of incomings so far, with it now almost seven days since their last signing with Joe Rodon having joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
Rodon became Leeds’ fourth arrival of the summer following his arrival at Elland Road, with Ethan Ampadu, Karl Darlow and Sam Byram also having moved to Elland Road.
However, it remains abundantly clear that Leeds still need to make significantly more additions before the window closes on September 1.
Farke hints positive news soon on the transfer front at Leeds
Speaking in his press conference today, though, Farke seemed much more confident than in weeks gone by that good news is not too far away.
He said: “I’m just here for the sport. It’s not for me to speak publicly about our financial situation. There are rules we have to stick to. It’s not clear on outgoings. We know we have to improve the squad and we’re working hard behind the scenes.
“We’ll have more clarity on incomings as exits become more clear. We’re confident we’ll have a competitive group in September. Yes. 100 per cent. It’s a small period of time, it’s not easy and complicated. We were fully aware that we’d have more clarity the more of August goes by.
“It’s tricky but I’m confident we’ll have some good solutions. The old quote save the best until last. We’re relaxed but not falling asleep.”
As frustrating as it is at this stage, once this week is over it does feel as though transfer activity will really start kicking into gear.
Farke has clearly suggested that Leeds are now in a position of far greater clarity in terms of exit clauses, meaning they can finally start pressing on with incomings.
