It has been a fantastic season for Leeds United. A record-breaking points tally with Daniel Farke’s men clocking up 100 points, more than any other Leeds side, and achieving promotion.

When Leeds hired Daniel Farke, it was for one reason – to get Leeds back into the Premier League. He has got the job done, and now for Leeds and Farke, the real challenge begins and that is to remain at the top.

The gap between the Championship and the Premier League is widening and it is a tall order for any team coming up via promotion to then stay up. Alan Shearer thinks that trend could change soon, however.

But it has not just been a successful season for those currently at Leeds. Indeed, one player who remains on the books at Elland Road until June 30 has enjoyed a stellar season – in the form of Rasmus Kristensen.

Rasmus Kristensen earns impressive feat as Leeds exit confirmed

In April, Leeds announced that The Whites and Frankfurt had agreed the permanent sale of Kristensen. It is believed a fee of £7.7m will be paid, with Frankfurt negotiating a lower fee than their permanent clause.

It comes after a superb campaign in Germany, alongside Robin Koch. Kristensen had endured two very poor seasons – both at Leeds initially and then on loan at Roma. At Frankfurt, Kristensen is shining again.

The Denmark right-back has had a hand in 10 goals in 43 games as Frankfurt won a place in next season’s Champions League. Such is his form, Kristensen is picked in The Athletic’s Bundesliga Team of the Season.

Long-term Leeds target also in Bundesliga Team of the Season

Rewind two years, and Leeds were interested in signing Nadiem Amiri from Bayer Leverkusen. A Germany international, Amiri even flew to Elland Road and held talks before choosing not to join in a £5m deal.

Since then, Amiri has gone to Mainz – managed by Bo Henriksen who has been linked with Leeds. The playmaker has captained Mainz this season, starring in a side that qualified for the Conference League.

Amiri had a hand in 12 goals in 30 Bundesliga games this season, winning his Germany spot back and actually earning interest from Aston Villa. One that got away for Leeds then, back in the summer of 2023.
