Robin Koch has confirmed he will be leaving Leeds United on a permanent basis at the end of his contract to join loan side Eintracht Frankfurt – prompting reaction from Luke Ayling and others.
The Germany international has spent the first half of the season on loan with the Europa Conference League side, playing 23 times and impressing in the heart of a back three. Three goals, two assists.
Indeed, Koch has been in excellent form for Frankfurt and has even captained his loan side. Now, he will be joining Frankfurt beyond the end of the season – something that he was expected to do for a while.
Koch left Leeds on loan for the 23-24 season in what is the final year of his Elland Road contract, pretty much ending his Leeds spell. But he still had to show Frankfurt he was good enough to win a deal.
He has done that and Frankfurt have moved quickly, a few days after he entered the final six months of his Leeds contract – to tie him down permanently. He will officially become a Frankfurt player on July 1.
