Michael Bridges says one Leeds United player has proved everyone wrong after ‘watching him’ vs Portsmouth

The Championship table is good viewing for Leeds United fans on Thursday morning as The Whites got back to winning ways against Millwall, re-asserting their lead in first place.

With nine games to play and one to go before the March international break, Leeds are now two points ahead of Sheffield United after Bristol City equalised in the 90th minute at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

An own goal and Ao Tanaka’s brilliant strike was enough to beat Millwall, with Alex Neil saying Leeds are the best side he has faced this season since taking over at The Den. Nine games left, 79 points secured.

Last season, Leeds managed just 14 points in their last 10 games and Daniel Farke will be desperate to do better than that this time around. A good start, with Manor Solomon proving instrumental once again.

Michael Bridges raves about on-loan Leeds star Manor Solomon

Solomon has now gone five games without a goal or an assist and yet, the Tottenham star continues to play a key role in this Leeds side. It was his run and cross that led to the own goal on Wednesday night.

Speaking on LUTV’s Matchday programme, Michael Bridges heaped massive praise on Solomon after the full-time whistle. Bridges thinks Solomon has proven early doubters wrong, over his injury concerns.

“I love watching him. He’s an exciting footballer, a defender’s nightmare. There was a lot of speculation, his injury history, can he get himself fit? He’s getting better and better and that is only good for Leeds.”

Solomon has been somewhat unfortunate. He should have had an assist against Millwall, but Joel Piroe blazed over and on Wednesday, his cross would have gone to a Leeds player before it was deflected in.

It is more down to a lack of luck than anything of his doing that the numbers have dried up in the last few weeks. But he remains critical to this Leeds side and if Leeds are to secure promotion, Solomon is crucial.

Whether Daniel Farke decides to freshen things up on Saturday and give Solomon a rest remains to be seen. Wilfried Gnonto could be given a run out against QPR at Loftus Road, but Farke will not want risks.
