Joe Gelhardt has plenty of admirers this month as Daniel Farke continues to overlook the striker at Leeds United and now, Carlos Corberan would ‘love’ to take the forward to West Bromwich Albion.
That is according to The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon, who reports on his Patreon channel that West Brom are the latest club to show an interest in the Leeds man. Gelhardt is struggling for game time.
He has managed just one Championship outing in our last 20 league games, coming on as a sub in the 1-1 draw against Coventry. Gelhardt has also had to endure a number of frustrating injuries this term.
Celtic and Rangers are interested in taking Gelhardt north of the border this month, while league rivals Blackburn, Preston and Hull are also keen. Plymouth are said to stand a good chance to get him, too.
Now, Nixon claims Corberan – who worked for Leeds as the club’s U21 manager before working as a coach under Marcelo Bielsa before leaving in 2020 to take over Huddersfield – would ‘love’ a reunion.

Leeds want any interested parties to pay Gelhardt’s wages in full, which could prove to be a sticking point. But, a move for the striker seems likely, after he was an unused sub again on Saturday afternoon.
Gelhardt was seen as one of the players that may benefit from relegation to the Championship at Elland Road. But, with Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford ahead of him – game time is limited.
A loan could suit him, especially working under a manager that he knows so well. West Brom do have options up top, like Brandon Thomas-Asante and Daryl Dike. But, Gelhardt offers something different.
