Joe Gelhardt’s future at Leeds United is in doubt with the star struggling for game time under Daniel Farke and a new report claims a Championship club have joined the race – a team Leeds face, soon.
Gelhardt, 21, is a sensational player. An attacker with enormous talent, but it just has not happened with Leeds, despite glimpses of magic. His assist against Brighton, his penalty win in a 1-1 draw with Wolves.
This season, injuries have limited Gelhardt to just eight appearances in all competitions. With Patrick Bamford back to form, Joel Piroe a mainstay and Georginio Rutter incredible, Gelhardt needs to leave us.
At least, on loan in January. Reports say that Blackburn, Preston and Hull all want to land Gelhardt, while a new claim yesterday said Celtic and Rangers want to take Gelhardt north of the border this month.
Now, The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon channel that Gelhardt is a target for Plymouth. Nixon says Plymouth stand a chance as they are not involved in the race for promotion.

Plymouth Argyle want to sign Leeds United man Joe Gelhardt
However, a move to Argyle – who Leeds have been drawn against in the fourth round of The FA Cup at Elland Road – would see Leeds have to subsidise what reporter Nixon describes as his “large wages”.
Plymouth need to bring in some creativity and goals after losing Finn Azaz – with the Aston Villa man’s loan ending so he could join Middlesbrough on a permanent basis. Gelhardt is a man they are targeting.
Daniel Farke has supposedly told Gelhardt he wants him to stay, and will only allow him to go if the club bring in a replacement, first. It is unclear if Leeds are in the market for an attacking player, this month.
