Leeds United’s summer transfer window doesn’t seem like much to write home about, with fans unconvinced that the club hasn’t done enough.
Leeds United’s start to the season has certainly been a very mixed one, stemming from what was a frustrating summer transfer window on the whole.
Last time out, Leeds lost 1-0 away at Fulham. It was a relatively decent away performance from Daniel Farke’s side, albeit let down in the final minute by an unfortunate Gabriel Gudmundsson own goal.
After four games this season, Leeds are yet to score from open play. Striker signings were desperately needed, though the Whites did well to keep their star players with none ever really coming close to leaving.

Hull City boss speaks out on Darko Gyabi after Leeds United exit
Darko Gyabi was among the players to leave Elland Road this summer. The 49ers expectedly got rid of some of the deadwood in the first-team as Hull City signed Gyabi on a permanent deal, effectively a free transfer with the 21-year-old central midfielder since making his debut against Swansea City last weekend.
Formerly of the Man City youth academy, Gyabi spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Plymouth Argyle making 43 Championship appearances in total, scoring once and assisting twice. Speaking to Hull Live, Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has hailed Gyabi’s experience at such a young age, insisting that the youngster will improve under his watch.
Jakirovic said: “He’s a very powerful, powerful player… This is already an experienced player, a young player. I think it’s a very good investment for our club because of the age, because he’s now, together with Leeds, I think a 50/50 player, he’s a free player.
“We can improve him, he’s powerful, good on the ball, good in transitions, good height so he’s what we’ve been looking for until now and I hope he will improve our group a lot, especially in those positions in the midfield zone.”

Darko Gyabi could make Leeds United millions
Hull City were working under tight restrictions in the transfer market this summer. Leeds did them a favour by allowing Gyabi to move on a free transfer, but the 49ers have been very clever with the deal.
Previous reports revealed how Leeds United inserted a 50% sell-on clause in Gyabi’s move to Hull City and so the player could easily make Leeds a nice chunk of money one day in the future.
He’s certainly a player with potential and like Jakirovic suggests, having such Championship experience at a young age will only benefit him as he looks to really progress and develop into a better footballer.
Leeds United really upgraded their central midfield this summer with names like Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff and so there wasn’t a spot for Gyabi. Hull though looks like a good fit and a great chance for the player.
