After a bit of back and forth, Newcastle United and Leeds United have agreed a deal for Sean Longstaff to leave his boyhood club, and head to Elland Road.
Sean Longstaff is set to become signing number five for Daniel Farke this summer, after reports on Tuesday revealed that Leeds United have finally agreed a deal for Longstaff to join the club.
Per reports, Leeds United are paying £15million to sign Longstaff from Newcastle, which matches the fee they paid for Jaka Bijol earlier in the summer: the most expensive signings of this summer so far at Leeds.

How Leeds United eventually landed Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United
Leeds’ interest in Longstaff dates back to 2024, when Farke wanted to sign the 27-year-old in the event that his Leeds United side beat Southampton in the Championship play-off final.
That obviously didn’t happen. But following the Whites’ title-winning season last time round, Longstaff’s links to Elland Road were reignited. But Leeds United saw multiple bids for Longstaff rejected, at first.
Newcastle wanted more than the £12million on offer and now Eddie Howe’s side have got their increased fee, and Leeds United have got their man.

Man United fans comment as Sean Longstaff joins Leeds United
There was a time not so long ago when academy graduate Longstaff was a vital player for Newcastle United. Fans will remind you of games against PSG in the Champions League where Longstaff shone.
And there was also a time when Man United were interested in signing Longstaff. Back in 2019, the Red Devils were quoted a stunning £50million price tag for the Englishman, and Man United fans remember that very well.
“Didn’t they quote £50million for United when Ole wanted to sign him few years back?” asked one Man United supporter online. Another recalled: “Someone that was once quoted for £50million because Man United wanted him.”
“There was a time United were willing to chuck £50million for him,” said another, as one Man United fan added: “£50million midfielder five years ago lmao.”
A similar comment read: “This guy has lost form so much. Remember when they told Man United to bring £50million for him.”
Leeds United then have signed a player who was once hot property at the top-end of the Premier League, and for a bargain fee it seems. If he gets a run of games then he could prove to be a key player for the Whites.
