Luke Ayling’s pre-season prediction about Leeds boss Daniel Farke has already come true this season

In pre-season, Luke Ayling predicted that Leeds United supporters would be happy with the style of football Daniel Farke’s was looking to implement.

Ayling was speaking in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds less than two weeks before the Championship opener with Cardiff City, following friendlies against Manchester United and AS Monaco.

Farke had only been in the building at Elland Road for around three weeks but due to the shorter turnaround between seasons, had to work quickly on the training ground during pre-season.

Due to the chaotic nature of Leeds’ summer transfer window, which saw nine players come in and 17 depart, it definitely look a little while to get going.

However, with the squad now very much settled, Leeds have been in superb form as of late, winning six of their last seven matches, with Farke’s philosophy become clearer and clearer.

Leeds fans will be delighted with Farke impact

With only two friendly matches under their belt, Ayling made an early prediction that Leeds supporters would be happy with the football Farke brings to the club.

He said: “It’s been good, nice and hard. Got some good work done. We’ve had to learn a whole new style of play which has been good, the fans are going to be happy with the way he wants us to play. A good three weeks.

“Us players have been around enough styles to slot back in, it takes a bit of time but it showed against Monaco – the fans that were there could see the style that was coming in.”

Leeds supporters have been starved of a manager who wants to play attractive football ever since the departure of Marcelo Bielsa in February 2022.

Jesse Marsch tried and failed to coach a side purely focused on out of possession tactics, while only Javi Gracia knows style Javi Gracia was trying to implement. Then came Sam Allardyce.

All be it in a different league, Farke has now once again switched focus to Leeds looking to dominate the ball again and it is something supporters are getting behind.
