Luke Ayling has told Leeds United’s official website that the squad are “excited” to start playing under Daniel Farke ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Manchester United in Oslo – recalling Farke’s previous wins over Leeds.
Farke will be in the dugout on Wednesday afternoon at the Ullevaal Stadium, as he takes a mixture of senior players and youngsters to Norway. The likes of Liam Cooper, Ayling and Luis Sinisterra have been joined by some teenagers.
Harry Christy, Sonny Perkins, Kris Moore, Joe Gelhardt, Dani van den Heuvel, Sam Greenwood and Georginio Rutter have also travelled. Dan James and Jamie Shackleton are back after loan spells and are also in contention to play.

Ayling spoke ahead of Wednesday’s match against Erik ten Hag’s side, saying the Leeds squad are excited to get going under Farke, learn his style. He says the team are aware of Farke’s tactics after previous losses to Norwich.
“The first week of pre-season was good, we worked really hard. A lot of running and football, it has been tough. The new gaffer has come in and we all know what style of football he plays, we’ve faced him a few times before.
“His teams have beaten us before whilst playing good football. The boys are excited to pick his style up, it’s a short pre-season so we will need to learn quickly. Hopefully we can, it’s vital we get off to a good start this season.”

It does feel like the start of a new era. A new board and ownership, eventually – when the EFL finally give Leeds the all-clear we have been waiting for for a number of weeks, now. Then, a new manager and what will be a new squad.
Farke will bring a defensively structured, yet attacking focus to this Leeds side. A solid balance, but more focus on scoring goals, than keeping them out. Farke has less than a month to get us ready before the opener on August 6.
