Leeds United are considering an ambitious loan move for Manchester United wonderkid Amad Diallo after a superb season with Sunderland – a “versatile” player that Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray compared to Bruno Fernandes.
The Ivory Coast star enjoyed a wonderful campaign at the Stadium of Light, in which he had a hand in 16 goals in 37 Championship games for the Black Cats – scoring 13 goals, laying on three assists. Now, he returns to Old Trafford.
According to the Sunday People (25/6; page 56), Diallo is wanted on loan at Leeds. It remains to be seen what Diallo thinks about a move to Leeds and a second loan in the Championship, having starred in the second tier last term.
It might be that the ex-Atalanta man fancies a crack in the Premier League, or even potentially breaking into Erik ten Hag’s side. But a move to Leeds could tempt Diallo. Speaking about Diallo, Sunderland boss Mowbray told MUTV:
“I see Manchester United games, I watch a lot of football, and Bruno [Fernandes] plays a bit of everywhere, off the right sometimes, as a 10 or as a running 8, he can play deep, link the midfield. Amad is a similar type of footballer.”

What a signing Diallo would be. Two reasons. The first, his incredible form in a Sunderland side that punched above their weight and immediately after promotion to the Championship, got themselves into last season’s top six.
Second of all, because Leeds desperately need wingers. Cree Summerville, Jack Harrison, Willy Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra are all likely to go. So, Leeds need two, maybe three wingers – with Dan James set to return to Leeds.
Signing Diallo – who is an incredible talent, and is proven at this level – would be superb business. Even, if it means Leeds would have to do business with Manchester United. Diallo takes Leeds a step closer to an instant return.
