Leeds United are reportedly keen on raiding Europa League quarter-finalists Anderlecht for wonderkid Zeno Debast – a player that has been touted to take Manchester City icon Vincent Kompany’s throne within Belgian football.
Debast, 19, has enjoyed a wonderful breakthrough season. Coming into the season with just seven games under his belt, he has clocked up 47 outings for Anderlecht’s first team. His form earned him three Belgium caps this term.
In that time, he has helped Anderlecht clock up 18 clean sheets this season – conceding just 51 goals. He has even captained his club, despite his tender age, on one occasion. Little surprise Debast is attracting interest from clubs.
Belgian outlet Voetbal Belgie claim Leeds and West Ham are interested in signing Debast, who is rated at a fee of £7m. A report from Goal on Debast claims he is being touted as the man to replace the throne built by Kompany.

Leeds keen on Zeno Debast, touted to take Vincent Kompany’s throne
If Debast is anything like Kompany, he is going to be a player that enjoys a career right at the height of European football. A player that will go on to win trophy after trophy, almost 100 caps for his country. Kompany is a legend.
Now shining in management after a spell at boyhood club Anderlecht, Kompany won 12 English honours – including four Premier League titles. At this stage, Kompany had a couple of seasons under his belt at Debast’s current side.
But, the likeness is alarming. Perhaps Debast is not as powerful as Kompany, but he is arguably just as good on the ball. His passing is like a midfielder and he has a bit of pace – while being 6ft 3in. Massive potential. A no-brainer.
