The Easter period is often make or break when it comes to promotion from the Championship to the Premier League and this season is no different, with Leeds United on the cusp.

Sitting pretty at the top of the Championship table after two successive wins over Middlesbrough and Preston at home on Saturday, Leeds sit five points clear of Chris Wilder’s imploding Sheffield United.

Good Friday sees Leeds go to Gary Rowett’s Oxford United, who recently beat Sheffield United. Burnley are away at Watford beforehand at 3pm, while Sheffield United host Cardiff City at Bramall Lane (5.30pm).

Leeds’ trip to Oxford is an 8pm kick-off on Good Friday. If Sheffield United lose and Leeds win, and then Leeds beat Stoke on Monday before Sheffield United face Burnley, promotion would be confirmed.

Worrying Daniel Farke stat emerges as Leeds face Oxford United

There is plenty to be concerned about if of a Leeds persuasion, as The Whites face Oxford. A side much stronger since the experienced Rowett took over at The Kassam Stadium, climbing into 17th position.

Rowett knows the Championship like the back of his hand after spells with Birmingham City, Derby, Stoke, Millwall and now with Oxford. Daniel Farke has shared a touchline with Rowett on six occasions.

But, it has not been a pleasant run of games for Farke. It was not until manager of Leeds that Farke won his first game against Rowett, going winless in the first five – losing two and failing to score in three.

Leeds United’s injury status ahead of Oxford United clash

The Whites remain in decent condition. However, they will be without Joe Rothwell – with the aim to get the playmaker fit again for Leeds’ last home game against Bristol City and then the trip to Plymouth.

However, Farke has said Dan James could be available against Oxford. The Wales winger suffered an issue with his hamstring at Middlesbrough and given it is a muscle injury, there were fears he might be done.

But, James could return on Friday – and if he is unavailable to take on Rowett’s side, then Monday looks increasingly likely for the £25m signing. Otherwise, the Leeds squad are in good health for Oxford.
