Leeds United’s dismal record laid bare as Daniel Farke fails to stop trend at Millwall, loss rate now stands at 79%

A second Championship defeat of the season has already seen some Leeds United fans call for Daniel Farke to be replaced as it always does, but it was a disappointing result at Millwall.

The Whites suffered a 1-0 loss in London on Wednesday night as former Tottenham and England U21 star Japhet Tanganga scored the only goal of the game. A fourth consecutive 1-0 win for Neil Harris’ Millwall.

Leeds had chances and even had a goal disallowed, as Joel Piroe put the ball in the back of the net. One that looked close initially, but Gary Rowett was confident the right decision was made on Piroe’s effort.

Only a second loss for Leeds this season after 14 Championship matches, the other also a 1-0 defeat in the form of a narrow loss to Burnley. But it saw Farke and Leeds fail to stem the flow of a dismal record.

Daniel Farke fails to prevent Leeds struggling in London again

Remarkably, Leeds have now lost 30 of their last 38 visits to the capital. Wednesday night’s trip to Millwall was the club’s first in London this season after four visits last season, with Leeds losing 79% of the last 38.

A win over Millwall last season, but defeats to QPR and Chelsea and then at Wembley in te play-off final against Southampton. Three losses from four, and four from five during Farke’s tenure as Leeds boss.

Indeed, Opta statman and Leeds fan Jonny Cooper took to X to highlight just how bad Leeds have been in London: “Leeds have lost 30 of their last 38 matches in London. Thirty out of thirty-eight. Blimey.”

What is it about London that Leeds simply cannot get right?

Leeds smashed Millwall last season, but when they went to QPR during the run-in – every Leeds fans will remember the 4-0 humiliation inflicted at Loftus Road. Timing is never ideal for a trip to London, it seems.

Last night, Leeds faced a Millwall side in super form that had just beaten Burnley. At QPR, the pressure of the run-in got to Leeds. But 30 of 38 is quite a remarkably bad record for Farke and Leeds over the years.

Luckily, Leeds only have to go to London on one more occasion this season – the reverse fixture at QPR in March 2025. That is of course, if you do not count Luton who are of course, based in Bedfordshire.
