Harry Wilson came within an inch of joining Leeds United on deadline day, only for Fulham to prevent a move going through at the very last minute despite making two signings.
Fulham pulled the plug despite a deal sheet going in for Wilson. It was believed Fulham wanted to get some attacking signings in before allowing Wilson to go, and signed both Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze.
Wilson, 28, is in the final year of his contract at Fulham but the move fell through. Some reports say that Fulham’s inability to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea well as Kevin and Chukwueze stopped Wilson.
Managing director Robbie Evans has since said that Wilson wanted to join Leeds. Since the drama on deadline day, Wilson took to the field for the first time on Thursday as Wales faced Kazakhstan.

Harry Wilson shows he would have sold Leeds’ major weakness
A crucial 1-0 win for Wales in which Karl Darlow earned praise for a stunning save in the second half. Wilson meanwhile, lasted the whole match and arguably, was the most-influential player on the pitch.
The only goal of the game came when a Wilson set-piece caused havoc and after a Liam Cullen header was saved, Kieffer Moore was on hand to slide the ball home. It shows Leeds just why Wilson was needed.
Leeds have brought in 10 new signings, nine of which are above 6ft in order to pose more of a physical threat. But in doing so, they have failed to sign a set-piece specialist like Wilson, despite their attempts.
Well, Wilson’s free-kick and that wand of a left foot proved to be the game-changing moment. Wilson should have also scored in the second half and made it 2-0, only for his effort to be tipped wide.

Wales media deliver verdict on Harry Wilson’s display
After the match, Y Clwb Pel Droed gave their player ratings on the Wales side as they often do, and they handed a rating of 7/10 to Wilson, which LeedsUnited.News feels is actually a bit harsh on the player.
They summarised his display: “Always a consistent threat, Wilson’s set-piece delivery helped the side open the scoring, though he appeared frustrated at times as the team struggled to break down the defence.”
But the fact that Wilson’s first game after the Leeds links sees his set-piece delivery prove to be the deciding factor rubs salt in the wounds for Daniel Farke, with that free-kick and corner quality lacking.
