Calvin Ramsay has been linked with a move to Leeds United before the deadline but Liverpool have chosen to send the Scottish star to League One side Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season.
Ramsay, 20, has endured a difficult 18 months. Leaving Aberdeen for Liverpool in the summer of 2022, he played just twice before a move to Preston last summer – on loan. Just two more games at Preston.
That saw his loan cancelled and return to Anfield, before Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he would be stepping down as Liverpool manager. He is now at Liverpool, with a new loan deal more than likely.
Assistant boss Pep Ljinders says Ramsay will leave the club on loan. Reports said Leeds were leading Southampton in the race to land him on loan. But Liverpool have now made a decision on his future.
They’ve opted to send their £6.5m signing to League One side Bolton, after Conor Bradley impressed on loan during 2022-23 at Bolton. Bradley has of course impressed for Klopp’s senior side this season.

Liverpool have been keen to send the players that are heading out on loan to a club they know will see them gain plenty of game time. At Leeds, Ramsay was never going to start over Archie Gray on the right.
Instead, the Scotland star would have only been playing as back-up to Gray. A smart, solid signing for Leeds given he can play on the left, too. But that was not enough for Jurgen Klopp’s side, for Ramsay.
He will now join Bolton, who are pushing for the League One title – two points behind the leaders, but with two games in hand. Ramsay immediately strengthens Bolton – which he would not do at Leeds.
