Leeds United have been warned not to fall into a common trap when deciding whether to part company with Daniel Farke as they fight for their Premier League status.

Daniel Farke is currently under significant pressure with Leeds as he fights to keep his side in the Premier League.

Having watched their cushion on the bottom three evaporate, Leeds now need to pull off an upset in their crucial game against Aston Villa to ease the nerves among the fan base.

Prior to Leeds’ demoralising defeat against Nottingham Forest, reports had suggested that Farke would be given five games to save his Leeds career, with big name managers such as Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers on the market.

Now, the club has been warned that they must take a decision on Farke sooner rather than later, as they fight for their top-flight survival.

Leeds United warned over Daniel Farke’s future

Speaking on the Beyond the Back Four podcast, Football Finance expert Kieran Maguire explained why Leeds are taking a financial gamble over Farke’s future.

According to Maguire, Premier League clubs often fall into a trap of believing that a change alone will improve their performance, which is something he believes Leeds should avoid doing.

Maguire said: “I think if they’re going to make a decision, that decision will be made sooner rather than later. Although, Of course, Big Sam is always around in March and April, should a club have a poorer period.

“The focus as far as 49ers are concerned, 49ers investments, is to establish Leeds United as a Premier League football club. And they will look at those clubs whom they potentially want to model themselves on, the likes of Palace and Brentford and Brighton.

“And they look at Brighton, their first seasons, first four seasons in the Premier League, 16th, 15th, 16th, 17th. It was all about being able to have three or four players who you could say were definite Premier League players.

He continued: “I saw Leeds United at the Amex two weeks ago and I was surprised from a footballing point of view. They were the worst side that I’ve seen this season, and I’ve seen Brighton play Wolves.

“So I was, I was taken aback slightly, but they do appear to have sort of some decent home form and they will probably succeed on the back of that. I don’t think the board will be rushing to make a decision in terms of a new manager, unless they fall for the trap of change is the same as improvement.”

With Leeds struggling for form and Farke fielding questions about his future, the 49ers may be rushed into making a decision on their manager in the very near future.

The January transfer window could be the thing that forces their hand, as the last opportunity to strengthen the Leeds playing squad before the end of the season.

Leeds Managing Director Robbie Evans has said the club are close to their PSR limit, which means the little money Leeds have to spend must be used wisely.

As a result, the 49ers’ faith in Farke will be tested. If they do not believe he is the right man to steer Leeds to safety, they may decide to back a new manager with their precious transfer resources.
