Daniel Farke’s side are boasting a number of in-form players that continue to catch the eye with Leeds United now six games unbeaten and sitting second, on level points with leaders Sunderland.
Wilfried Gnonto isn’t impressed with his Leeds form, but he is the club’s September Player of the Month after having a hand in four goals in four games prior to the wins over Sheffield United and then Watford.
Illan Meslier has recovered from his mistake at Sunderland to keep six clean sheets in his 11 games so far, which has seen Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk impress. Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo look good out wide.
Bogle hit the woodwork and Firpo got an assist. Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka are really impressing in midfield, with LeedsUnited.News rating Tanaka 8.5. Simon Grayson said Tanaka was Leeds’ best last night.

Only three have misplaced more passes than one Leeds player
Gnonto, Joel Piroe, Largie Ramazani, Brenden Aaronson and Mateo Joseph are all sharing the goals nicely, with Piroe on four, Ramazani and Aaronson on three and Joseph and Gnonto scoring two themselves.
So, Farke has a group of in-form players working collectively. But there are certainly areas of improvement and one element of Tuesday’s display was a huge number of misplaced short passes by Leeds players.
Interestingly, left-back Firpo is the Championship’s fourth-worst short passer of the ball. Only three others in England’s second tier have misplaced more than him, with Firpo failing to find a teammate 75 times.
Junior Firpo has misplaced 14% of his short passes for Leeds
Starting all 11 Championship games, Firpo has laid on three assists from left-back. But in attempting 518 short passes this season, the defender has misplaced 75 – which is a staggering 14% of his overall passes.
| Name | Club | Attempted short passes | Misplaced | Success rate |
| Jason Knight | Bristol City | 587 | 96 | 84% |
| Mattie Pollock | Watford | 614 | 81 | 87% |
| Hayden Hackney | Middlesbrough | 725 | 79 | 89% |
| Junior Firpo | Leeds | 518 | 75 | 86% |
| Jimmy Dunne | QPR | 474 | 72 | 85% |
Firpo’s amount of assists since the turn of the year shows that clearly, the £13m man is a player that tries to make things happen and passes forward. But to misplace nearly one every five short passes isn’t good enough.
Something to work on for the Domincan Republic star, but the former Barcelona star will not be in action this weekend when Leeds go to Bristol City – with Firpo having picked up his fifth yellow card on Tuesday.
