Leeds United pundit says what he noticed about Jayden Bogle when he was playing for Derby

Jayden Bogle made his first appearance for Leeds United on Wednesday afternoon as The Whites went up against German side Hannover 96, and Tony Dorigo gave his verdict on Bogle’s arrival.

Leeds signed the 23-year-old from Sheffield United earlier on this month for a fee of £5m, despite Chris Wilder making it clear he wanted to keep Bogle at Bramall Lane. He reunites with captain Ethan Ampadu.

Bogle starred in the Premier League last season, scoring three goals from right-back against Chelsea and both Manchester clubs. Now, he will be tasked with supplying the ammunition for the Leeds attackers.

That, and keeping opposition left-wingers quiet as Daniel Farke looks to bring Premier League football back to Elland Road. On the face of it, Leeds look as though they have got a bit of a bargain in Bogle.

Dorigo shares his thoughts on the Leeds signing of Bogle

Leeds certainly needed a right-back after waving goodbye to Connor Roberts, Archie Gray, Luke Ayling Jamie Shackleton, Cody Drameh, Rasmus Kristensen and other possible right-sided options this summer.

Bogle played for the second 45 minutes as Leeds cruised to a 4-1 win over Hannover on Wednesday, and during co-commentary on LUTV, Leeds icon Dorigo said he’s always been a big fan of right-back Bogle.

“Watching him play for Sheffield United and he was at Derby as well, he’s committed. Defensively he’s strong, very good with the ball at his feet and loves to get forward,” Dorigo said during commentary.

“Chipping in with the odd goal and a fair few assists, it would be very nice wouldn’t it. A really good age at 23, I like a player with ambition and get up to the Premier League,” the ex-Leeds man added on LUTV.

New signing Bogle can be a long-term Luke Ayling replacement

Even just judging from his 45 minutes against Hannover, Bogle looks like an incredible signing. For the majority of the last eight years, Ayling has been first choice on the right side of the Leeds defence.

Bombing up and down, laying on goals and contributing to attacks under Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League. Last season it was Archie Gray, who played more of an inverted role and then Byram and Roberts.

Bogle is return to the up-and-down style of Ayling that worked so well during the latter’s time at Leeds. Middlesbrough fans get to enjoy Ayling now, and hopefully, Leeds get a new version of Ayling in Bogle.
