Steven Gerrard has been strongly linked with a move to Leeds United as the club’s next manager but now, Gerrard has been handed the chance to manage Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq – and Reuters claim he is open to a move.
Gerrard, 43, has been out of work since being sacked by Aston Villa during the first half of the 2022-23 season. He has since been linked with a number of other clubs, including the role as Poland’s National Team manager this term.
Phil Hay says that those in and around Gerrard think he has got a good chance of getting the Leeds job when the club make their move. Others linked with the role include Scott Parker, Daniel Farke, Carlos Corberan and others.
The report from Reuters now claims that a source has informed the outlet that Gerrard has been offered the job at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. A club that boasts European sides including Marcel Tisserand, Robin Quaison and more.

The reaction to Gerrard potentially getting the Leeds job has been met with trepidation on Twitter and other social media sites. Not many parts of the Leeds fanbase would be happy if Gerrard got the role. Others are on the list.
But if the Burnley model is anything to go by, then Gerrard fits the bill. Burnley hired Vincent Kompany after a tricky spell at Anderlecht. A commanding, Premier League icon. He starred in his role as boss, winning instant promotion.
That is what Leeds need. Someone that is a leader, one the players can follow, buy into and look up to. Installing Gerrard as Leeds boss would also see Gary McAllister return to the club. We could do a lot worse than Stevie G.
