Former Leeds United forward Robbie Keane has paid a brilliant tribute to Ireland hero Troy Parrott after his heroic performance.
Troy Parrott provided Ireland with arguably their most important goal since Robbie Keane scored against Germany at the 2002 World Cup, as he grabbed a hat-trick against Hungary.
Leeds are reported to hold a keen interest in signing Parrott, as they have struggled for goals at the start of the Premier League season.
Keane was a firm favourite at Elland Road during his time at the club in the early 2000s, when Leeds enjoyed a strong connection with Ireland thanks to coach David O’Leary, and Keane’s teammates Ian Harte and Gary Kelly.
Now, Keane has been spotted paying his own tribute to Parrott as he joined in the celebrations with the Ireland fans in Malahide.

The internet was flooded with videos of wild celebrations by the Ireland fans after Parrott’s dramatic late winner, which kept their World Cup qualifying hopes alive.
Keane was at the centre of one such video, shared by Balls.ie from inside Gibney’s pub in Malahide, as he took to the stage with local band Loose Change.
Having concluded a rendition of ‘The Green Fields of France’, Keane led the crowd in a chant of ‘There’s Only One Troy Parrott’.
Keane was met with a rapturous reception, with the entire bar joining in to hail Ireland’s newest hero, led by their all-time leading goalscorer.

Troy Parrott is already catching another Leeds United legend in Ireland’s leading goalscorers
With Leeds eyeing up a potential 25 million euro move for the forward, Parrott has catapulted himself up the list of Ireland’s all-time leading goalscorers with a remarkable run of form.
With five goals in two games, Parrott has doubled his goal tally for Ireland and now sits 15th in the country’s list of all-time leading goalscorers.
Ireland’s leading goalscorers:
- Robbie Keane – 68
- Niall Quinn – 22
- John Aldridge – 20
- Don Givens – 19
- Frank Stapleton – 19
- Tony Cascarino – 19
- Ian Harte – 11 (13th place)
- Troy Parrott – 10 (15th place)
Keane tops the list by some distance with 68 goals, but Ian Harte also features prominently in 13th place, with 13 goals in 64 games for the men in green.
As a result, if Parrott continues his prolific run of form, he could soon leapfrog Harte and break into the top 10.
